Sessions are typically 45 minutes long and are designed to provide sequential, direct instruction with a heavy emphasis on phonics and phonological awareness. We utilize a curriculum created with the science of reading in mind and incorporate additional activities and resources as needed in order to address fluency, comprehension, and other areas of need.

You will need a tablet, laptop, or desktop computer with a camera and reliable internet connection. We meet through Google Meet using a private, secure link just for your child’s sessions. Your child will have their own private, reusable meeting link for consistency and convenience.
In addition, a few simple tools will help make sessions most effective:
Something for your child to write on (e.g., dry erase markers and whiteboard, an LCD writing tablet, or a notepad and pencil)
Printer (recommended for printing pages prior to sessions and after sessions for homework)
Other household items and school/office supplies may occasionally be utilized.
You’ll receive shared digital files before sessions to easily access and print any needed handouts.

An early focus on phonological awareness even before going to school has been shown to significantly improve a child’s success in reading later on (Bradley & Bryant, 1983). We’d love to help support your preschooler’s school readiness, especially if there are risk factors for reading problems (e.g., having a speech-sound disorder or developmental language disorder or a family history of dyslexia).
We offer both virtual and in-person sessions (in Spring, Tomball, and The Woodlands), as well as a reduced session time (30-minute sessions) for our preschool-age clients.

We are a private pay practice. This allows us to focus fully on your child’s needs without the restrictions or delays that can come with insurance billing. Most insurance companies do not cover structured literacy or reading intervention services, as they are often not considered billable under standard therapy codes.
